Title of Study: Levels of Self Criticism: An exploration of emotional regulation, shame and guilt. Researcher: Belinda Jarrett Supervisor: Jeff Ward Please read this carefully The purpose of this study is to explore the relationships between self-critical style, emotional tone and regulation of emotion. If you choose to participate in this study, you will be asked to fill in a survey relating to the measurement of the above factors. The research will take 20 minutes of your time. All information you provide for this research will be securely stored in computer software files, which only the researcher will have access to. Your response is anonymous. No information will be collected that will identify you as a participant, or allow your response to be related to you. Participation is voluntary and you are free to withdraw at any time, before submitting the survey without explanation. However, once you have submitted your response, it will not be possible to withdraw it. The research will contribute to our knowledge of the way self-critical style interacts and impacts on emotional experiences such as guilt and shame and how well these emotions are regulated. The data obtained from this study may be published in a journal article. Information about the project will not be made public in any way that singles out individual participants.
